RULES FOR THE SQUAD COMPONENT OF THE GAME ARE AT THE BOTTOM
Barstool Rankings – Vote for Your Favorite Barstool Personalities
Welcome to Barstool Rankings, the fan-powered ranking game where you decide who deserves to be at the top of the leaderboard. Every matchup is a head-to-head battle between two Barstool personalities, and your vote helps determine the community rankings.
Whether you’re a longtime Stoolie or just getting into Barstool Sports, this is the easiest and most entertaining way to rank your favorite personalities.
How Barstool Rankings Works
The game is simple:
- Two Barstool personalities are randomly selected.
- Choose your favorite.
- Your vote updates both competitors’ ratings.
- Repeat as many times as you’d like and watch the leaderboard evolve.
Every vote matters. One matchup won’t dramatically change the rankings, but thousands of votes from fans create a dynamic leaderboard that reflects the community’s opinions.
Elo Rating System
Barstool Rankings uses the Elo rating system, the same mathematical ranking method used in competitive games like chess.
Here’s how it works:
- Higher-ranked personalities earn fewer points when defeating lower-ranked opponents.
- Upsets result in larger rating changes.
- Rankings constantly adjust based on new votes.
- No ranking is permanent—the leaderboard evolves as the community continues voting.
This creates a fair, competitive, and ever-changing ranking system rather than a simple popularity poll.
Community-Powered Rankings
Unlike traditional lists created by one person, Barstool Rankings is driven entirely by fan votes.
Every click contributes to:
- Updated Elo ratings
- Live leaderboard positions
- Community consensus
- Changing rankings over time
The more people who participate, the more accurate the rankings become.
Why Play?
Barstool Rankings is designed for fans who enjoy debating:
- Who is the funniest personality?
- Who creates the best content?
- Who deserves to move up the leaderboard?
- Which podcasts have the strongest talent?
- Who is the most underrated member of Barstool Sports?
Every matchup sparks another debate.
Updated Leaderboard
After each vote, the leaderboard is recalculated to reflect the newest rankings.
Check back often to see:
- Rising personalities
- Biggest movers
- Top-ranked creators
- Surprising upsets
- Community favorites
Because rankings are based on ongoing voting, the leaderboard is always changing.

Introducing The Talent Pool: Put Your Coins Where Your Votes Are
You’ve been voting on Live Rankings for a while now. You’ve got opinions. You know who’s underrated, who’s overrated, and who’s about to make a run up the leaderboard. So we figured — why not let you actually bet on it?
Welcome to The Talent Pool, a game within the game. It’s fantasy sports, but for our rankings.
The Basic Idea
Every entry on the site has a Rating — that number that goes up and down every time someone votes. In The Talent Pool, that Rating doubles as a price tag. An entry rated 1,000 costs 1,000 coins to sign. An entry rated 1,800 costs 1,800 coins.
Buy a contract, and that entry joins your Squad. Their value moves with their Rating from that point on — every vote that pushes them up or down changes what your contract is worth. Sell whenever you want, and you’re paid out at whatever their Rating is right now, not what you paid. Called it early on a rising star? That’s a profit. Held on too long after a slump? That’s a loss. Either way, it’s yours to manage.
Where Your Coins Come From
Everyone starts with 5,000 coins the moment they show up in The Talent Pool — no purchase, no catch. Just log in and you’re in the game.
From there, you earn more coins simply by doing what you already do: every vote you cast on Live Rankings earns you 0.1 coins. Keep voting, keep stacking your bank, keep buying contracts. The more active you are on the site, the more firepower you have to build your Squad.
(Quick note if you’re a longtime voter: when this feature launched, everyone with a voting history got a one-time bonus based on their all-time vote count, so your past votes weren’t left out of the fun.)
Building Your Squad
Head to The Talent Pool page and you’ll see every entry listed at its current coin price. Hit Buy Contract on anyone you believe in, and they’re added to your Squad — you’ll see them highlighted right there in the Pool so you always know who you already own.
Your Squad page is where you manage your roster. For every entry you own, you can see:
- Current Value — what they’re worth right now, in coins
- Amount Paid — what you paid to sign them
- Total Return — the difference between the two, in green if you’re up, red if you’re down
- Acquired — the date you signed them
- This Week’s Trend — how their Rating has moved over the last 7 days, so you know if it might be time to hold or fold
When you’re ready to cash out on someone, hit Sell. You’ll get their current value paid straight into your coin bank — no waiting, no fees.
Tracking the Market
Rankings move fast, and so does The Talent Pool. Both the Pool and your Squad show a weekly trend on every entry, so you can spot who’s heating up before everyone else piles in — or get out ahead of a slide.
Your Squad’s total value is also tracked over time. Check your Squad Value History chart to see how your portfolio has grown (or shrunk) month over month, the same way you’d track any other investment.
Bragging Rights
Building a great Squad is its own reward, but if you want to see how you stack up, check the Talent Pool Leaderboard. It ranks every player by their total current Squad value — a pure measure of who’s picking winners. Unused coins sitting in your bank don’t count toward your rank, so hoarding won’t get you anywhere. You have to actually play to climb.
Click on anyone’s name and you can see their Squad and their full buy/sell history — good scouting material if you’re looking for inspiration (or looking to copy a hot streak).
A Few Tips to Get Started
- Buy low. An entry with a cheap Rating today could be a bargain if they’re about to go on a run.
- Watch the weekly trend. A strong 7-day trend is often a sign of momentum — but remember, momentum can reverse just as fast.
- Don’t be afraid to sell. Locking in a profit is never a bad move. You can always buy back in later.
- Vote often. It’s the easiest way to keep your coin bank growing so you’re never sitting on the sidelines when a great buy shows up.
That’s it — that’s the whole game. Five thousand coins, a Talent Pool full of entries, and nothing but your own judgment standing between you and the top of the leaderboard.
